Heavy-Duty Rear Shock Upgrade – KONI FSD for Ford F53 Class A Motorhome

Upgrade the rear suspension of your motorhome with the KONI 8805-1019 Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) Rear Shock, designed for Ford F53 Class A motorhome chassis. These premium KONI shocks are engineered to improve ride comfort, reduce rear suspension bounce, and increase highway stability—especially important for gas-powered Class A motorhomes built on the Ford F53 platform.

KONI Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology automatically adjusts damping based on road conditions. The shock remains firm during heavy suspension inputs such as cornering, braking, and large bumps while softening over expansion joints and rough pavement to provide a smoother ride.

A specialized internal valve system helps reduce harsh road vibrations before they reach the chassis, resulting in improved passenger comfort and reduced driver fatigue during long trips. The result is improved rear suspension control, reduced porpoising, and better overall ride quality.

If your Ford F53 motorhome experiences rear-end bounce, excessive sway, or harsh ride quality, upgrading to KONI FSD shocks is one of the most effective ways to improve ride comfort, suspension performance, and driver confidence.

Product Benefits:

  • Frequency Selective Damping automatically adapts to road conditions
  • Improves ride comfort without sacrificing suspension control
  • Reduces vibration from expansion joints and rough pavement
  • Improves rear suspension stability and ride quality
  • Ideal upgrade for Ford F53 gas Class A motorhomes
  • Premium KONI durability and long service life

Ideal For:

  • Ford F53 motorhome suspension upgrades
  • Gas Class A motorhomes with V10 or 7.3L V8 engines
  • Reducing rear suspension bounce and porpoising
  • Improving highway stability and ride comfort
  • Long-distance RV travel and touring
  • Motorhome owners seeking improved suspension performance

Applications:

  • 1998-2020 Ford F53 Chassis – Rear – V10 Engine (Recommended for 14K–20.5K GVWR)
  • 2020-Current Ford F53 Chassis – Rear – 7.3L V8 Engine (Recommended for 14K–18K GVWR)

The KONI 8805-1019 FSD rear shock is designed specifically for Ford F53 gas motorhome chassis. These shocks help reduce rear suspension bounce and improve chassis stability while maintaining excellent ride comfort. For heavier Ford F53 chassis above the recommended GVWR ranges, KONI EVO shocks may provide improved performance.

Specifications:

Collapsed Length Extended Length Upper Mount Lower Mount
15.67" 25.28" Eye 3/4" Eye 3/4"

Special Notes:

  • Sold individually.
  • Two shocks required per rear axle.

  • For heavier Ford F53 chassis, KONI EVO shocks may be recommended.

I ordered Koni rear shocks for my 2018 Bounder F53 chassis does the shock install exposed shaft up or down? I would assume down but you know what happens when you assume. Thanks. ( Robert , 12/09/2021 )
You will want to install so that the exposed shaft is on the top.
If I order 2 Koni 8805 1019 shocks today to be shipped to Alabama when could I expect delivery. I’m kinda on a short timeframe here. :-)

Trying to verify model numbers for the shocks and Trac bar. 2017 Tiffin Open Road 34PA with F450 V10 engine on F53 chassis, 26000 lbs GVWR. Then order same.
( Craig Hoon, 06/29/2021 )

Rear trac bar UTF53V1024R

I plan to order both front and rear Koni FSD shocks for my motorhome (2007 Newmar Canyon Star 3303, 20,500GVWR). Based on it's age, are there any other parts that I need or should buy to properly install the shocks? Bushings, fasteners, etc? I prefer not to be in the middle of the swap and find out that I need some additional parts. If I am going to change them, I want to do it right. ( Robert Trachsler, 04/06/2021 )
The only parts you would be reusing are the bolts, washers and nuts. You shouldn't require replacing those.
Does the rear shock have a dust cover? ( Charles, 03/06/2018 )
No the 8805-1019 does not have a dust shield.
