Heavy-Duty Rear Shock Upgrade – KONI FSD for Country Coach, Spartan K2 & K3 and Spartan MountainMaster

Upgrade the suspension performance of your motorhome with the KONI 8805-1013 Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) Rear Shock, designed for Country Coach, Spartan Mountain Master, and Spartan K2 / K3 Class A motorhome chassis. These premium KONI FSD shocks are engineered to improve ride comfort, stability, and suspension control—especially important for diesel pusher motorhomes with drive axle or tag axle applications.

KONI Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology automatically adapts to changing road conditions. The shock remains firm when greater control is needed—such as during cornering, lane changes, and heavy suspension movement—but softens over expansion joints and rough pavement to deliver a smoother ride.

A specialized internal valve system helps filter harsh road vibrations before they reach the chassis, reducing driver fatigue while maintaining excellent suspension stability. The result is improved ride comfort, reduced suspension bounce, and better highway control for your motorhome.

If your coach experiences harsh ride quality, rear-end bounce, or unstable highway handling, upgrading to KONI FSD shocks is one of the most effective ways to improve ride comfort, suspension performance, and driver confidence.

Product Benefits:

  • Frequency Selective Damping automatically adapts to road conditions
  • Improves ride comfort without sacrificing handling performance
  • Reduces vibration from expansion joints and rough pavement
  • Improves rear suspension stability and chassis control
  • Ideal for diesel pusher motorhomes with drive axle or tag axle applications
  • Premium KONI durability and long service life

Ideal For:

  • Country Coach suspension upgrades
  • Spartan Mountain Master chassis upgrades
  • Spartan K2 and K3 tag axle applications
  • Luxury Class A diesel pusher motorhomes
  • Long-distance RV travel and touring
  • Drivers seeking improved ride comfort and highway stability

Applications:

  • 2000-2004 Country Coach Allure – Drive Axle
  • 2005-2007 Country Coach Allure without Tag Axle – Drive Axle
  • 2000-2004 Country Coach Intrigue – Drive Axle
  • 2008 Country Coach Tribute – Drive Axle
  • 2009 Country Coach Tribute without Tag Axle – Drive Axle
  • 2000-2003 Country Coach Islander – Drive Axle
  • 2004-Current Spartan K2 & K3 – Tag Axle
  • Spartan Mountain Master I-Beam Hendrickson – Drive Axle

The KONI 8805-1013 FSD rear shock is designed for a range of Country Coach and Spartan diesel pusher motorhome chassis. These chassis are commonly used under high-end Class A motorhomes where improved drive axle and tag axle suspension control, ride comfort, and highway stability are essential. This shock helps reduce suspension bounce, improve chassis control, and deliver a smoother ride compared to factory shock absorbers.

Specifications:

Collapsed Length Extended Length Upper Mount Lower Mount
13.90" 21.81" Eye 3/4" Eye 3/4"

Special Notes:

  • Sold individually.
  • For Spartan Mountain Master I-Beam Hendrickson applications, a 3/4" to 5/8" bushing adapter may be required for the lower bolts.
  • Some Spartan and PowerGlide chassis use a 5/8" lower shock bolt instead of the standard 3/4". Check whether a 1-1/8" wrench fits snug on the head of the lower shock bolt. If the 1-1/8" wrench fits snug, you do not need the bushing set. If the 1-1/8" wrench fits loose, you do require the bushing set.
  • Bushing adapter may be needed if OE number is 24-191258, F4-BE5-D235-M0, or 0501-SS5-001.
  • Verify drive axle or tag axle position and mounting configuration before ordering.

Other Information:

Q: What is KONI Frequency Selective Damping (FSD)?
A: FSD technology automatically adjusts damping based on road frequency, providing firm control during heavy suspension inputs while softening over rough pavement and expansion joints.

Q: Why is axle position important when selecting this shock?
A: This shock fits specific drive axle and tag axle applications depending on chassis type. Always verify the correct axle position and mounting configuration before ordering.

I'd like to replace the original Bilsteins on my 2010 Tiffin Zephyr. I see the Koni EVOs for the front but do not see the same Koni EVOs available for the rear axles.

Can you help me with the best recommended Konis for front and rear to smooth out the ride on my Tiffin?

Thanks!
( Paul, 05/08/2023 )
Koni only has their EVO series shocks for the front steer axles. You would use the FSD rear shocks for your application, 8805-1009.
