Heavy-Duty Rear Shock Upgrade – KONI FSD for Spartan Chassis / Tiffin PowerGlide Chassis

Upgrade the rear suspension performance of your motorhome with the KONI 8805-1009 Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) Rear Shock, designed for Spartan Mountain Master, Spartan K2, Spartan K3, and Tiffin PowerGlide Class A motorhome chassis. These premium KONI FSD shocks are engineered to improve ride comfort, stability, and suspension control—especially important for diesel pusher motorhomes equipped with Reyco Granning, ZF, or I-beam front suspension systems.

KONI Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology automatically adapts to changing road conditions. The shock remains firm when greater control is needed—such as during cornering, lane changes, and heavy suspension movement—but softens over expansion joints and rough pavement to deliver a smoother ride.

A specialized internal valve system helps filter harsh road vibrations before they reach the chassis, reducing driver fatigue while maintaining excellent suspension stability. The result is improved ride comfort, reduced rear suspension bounce, and better highway control for your motorhome.

If your coach experiences harsh ride quality, rear-end bounce, or unstable highway handling, upgrading to KONI FSD shocks is one of the most effective ways to improve ride comfort, suspension performance, and driver confidence.

Product Benefits:

  • Frequency Selective Damping automatically adapts to road conditions
  • Improves ride comfort without sacrificing handling performance
  • Reduces vibration from expansion joints and rough pavement
  • Improves rear suspension stability and chassis control
  • Ideal for diesel pusher motorhomes with premium chassis platforms
  • Premium KONI durability and long service life

Ideal For:

  • Spartan chassis diesel pusher motorhomes
  • Tiffin PowerGlide suspension upgrades
  • Luxury Class A motorhomes

The KONI 8805-1009 FSD rear shock is designed for a wide range of Spartan and Tiffin PowerGlide-based diesel pusher motorhomes. These chassis are commonly used under high-end Class A motorhomes where improved rear suspension control, ride comfort, and highway stability are essential. This shock helps reduce rear suspension bounce, improve chassis control, and provide a smoother ride compared to factory shock absorbers.

Specifications:

Collapsed Length Extended Length Upper Mount Lower Mount
15.08" 23.70" Eye 3/4" Eye 3/4"

Special Notes:

  • Sold individually.
  • Some Spartan and PowerGlide chassis use a 5/8" lower shock bolt instead of the standard 3/4".
  • Check whether a 1-1/8" wrench fits snug on the head of the lower shock bolt. If the 1-1/8" wrench fits snug, you do not need the bushing set. If the 1-1/8" wrench fits loose, you do require the bushing set.
  • If needed, use a 3/4" to 5/8" steel bushing kit.
  • Verify chassis and mounting configuration before ordering.

Other Information:

Q: What is KONI Frequency Selective Damping (FSD)?
A: FSD technology automatically adjusts damping based on road frequency, providing firm control during large suspension inputs while softening over rough pavement and expansion joints.

Q: How do I know if I need the lower shock bolt bushing kit?
A: Check the lower shock bolt with a 1-1/8" wrench. If it fits snug, you do not need the bushing set. If it fits loose, your chassis likely uses a 5/8" lower bolt and requires the bushing kit.

2014 Tiffin bus, 37AP… power glide chassis…can you tell me what Koni shocks to order, front and rear? ( Ellen Endicott, 01/27/2025 )
Your coach should have the ZF independent front suspension, we can verify this for you if you send a picture of the original shock. Front would be Koni 99B-3262 and rear would be 8805-1009.
I did the 1 1/8" wrench test and it was not snug. So does that mean I need the 16ea. spacers for rear shocks? The shocks for front are the 99B-3234 are this the new upgraded model? The back are 8805-1009 correct. Thanks ( rc thomas, 03/03/2024 )

Yes, if the wrench did not fit tight then you will need the spacer kit, you just need to order quantity 1 to do the lower bolt on each side. 99B-3234 is the new EVO model shock for your application.

Will an oversize Koni fit on my Spartin chassis . I have a 2019 entegra Aspire, the original buyer quickly installed larger Koni shocks on the front but not the rear. Is this a ride problem as far as porpoising is considered or maybe he did not do the rear because in just looking at the front Konis and then observing the amount of clearance between shock and the frame member it seems as a maybe fit at best for the larger Koni? I,m looking at maybe a half inch. ( John Pepper, 10/01/2022 )
Hello John, the the larger diameter Koni "90 Series" are  for front applications, primarily for Independent front suspensions, which place more leverage on the shocks and need more damping due the increased leverage. The 8805-1009's are the "FSD" design and work well on the rear application as they are "self adjusting" too give control when needed and still provide good ride quality .
Looking for larger size shock than standard on my 2019 entegra Aspire 40 foot. More like the 60MM size, Will they fit? ( John Pepper, 09/26/2022 )
Koni 99B-3234 front and Koni 8805-1009 rear will fit your Entegra Aspire.
I have a 2013 Tiffin Phaeton 36GH. I think she requires 2ea 99B3209 shocks for the front and 2ea 8805 1009 shocks for the rear. Can you verify or correct this information? ( Bill Milman, 09/02/2022 )
Your coach will take the 8805-1020 front shocks and 8805-1022 rear shocks.
