Ford F53 Class A Motorhome Suspension, Steering, and Handling Upgrade

Roadmaster anti-sway bars deliver a noticeable improvement in vehicle stability and handling for today’s most popular motorhome chassis. The Roadmaster 1139-149 kit features a 1-5/8" diameter rear auxiliary sway bar meaning you retain the factory rear sway bar and install this one in addition. Includes heavy-duty polyurethane bushings for enhanced control and reduced body roll.

Designed for straightforward installation, Roadmaster anti-sway bars are precision-engineered from powder-coated 4140 chromoly steel and paired with high-performance polyurethane bushings for maximum durability and long-lasting support beyond factory components. Each kit includes all required mounting hardware, upgraded polyurethane bushings, and detailed installation instructions.


Applications:

  • 2006-2020 Ford F53 V10 20,500-22,000 GVWR but we recommend 1139-145 as it's an easier installation

  • 2006-2020 Ford F53 V10 24,000-26,000 GVWR

  • 2021-Current Ford F53 V8 16,000-26,000 GVWR


Special Notes:

  • Does not fit Toy Hauler motor homes such as Thor Outlaw

  • Installs with a flat plate that is held in place by the leaf spring u-bolts on the rear axle. Check to ensure there enough exposed u-bolt below the nut to accommodate the factory nut and washer once the 1/2" tick plate is installed above them. If there is not enough exposed u-bolt, will need to purchase longer u-bolt kit 590050-00 for square top style or 590050-10 for round top style.

Can I buy the mounting hardware and brackets separately? I had some punk raid my garage, and all I have left is the sway bar itself.

Individual components from the kit can be purchased separately. You would purchase these directly from Roadmaster, not us.

Have 2017 thor Outlaw 37BG Has 26000 lb chassis. Do you carry rear anti sway bar that will fit my unit? ( Val Walker, 06/06/2019 )
The 1139-149 would be the “most” correct rear sway bar for that application, however, we have seen where Thor put additional reinforcement plates on the frame rail that interfere with where the sway bar is designed to attach to the frame. I would print the installation instructions and then crawl underneath the coach to see if it looks like installation would be possible.

We have seen where some Outlaw toy-haulers have additional supports and frame reinforcements which either prevent or make installation difficult. If you look at the installation instructions you can try to determine if yours has room to be installed.

I checked your VIN and it shows you have a 22,000 GVWR. The correct rear anti-sway bar for your chassis is the 1139-145.
