Who makes this part? Is it an OEM replacement part from GMC or AC Delco? ( Robert Fister, 11/22/2023 )
This part is made to OEM specifications by Gates.
Can I replace the 195 degree thermostat with a 180 degree and what is coolant capacity for 2003 8.1L Workhorse chassis? ( Steve L. Wright, 01/17/2021 )
You can replace it with a 180* thermostat but you will lose a good amount of defrost and heater performance. The 8.1L was designed to operate with the 195* thermostat and I see no measurable advantage to switching.
Hi Guys,... My temperature gauge is fluctuating and today, it stayed at cold, even after 10 minutes of driving... It then came back to normal and stayed that way for the next 100 miles...My guess is the 'thermostat'... I have had some overheating issues in the extremely hot weather in Mexico and AZ... I'm wondering if this could have damaged the sensor or something... My question is:,..Where does it go?... I have read everything I have and asked Google and YouTube, but, no luck as to the location to replace the old one... Can you help me with this, please? Peace, Val Ingham 2003 P32 Workhorse 8.1 ( Valerie Ingham, 06/16/2020 )

Hi looking at your 195 degree thermostat for a 2006 8.1L. Is this different to the original one install on my engine or is it the same degrees? ( Damon, 05/02/2017 )

Hi Damon,

Yes all the 8.1L's use the same 195* thermostat, W8800783.
