w-18 w0000033 p/s gear have a adjustment for play in steering gear

Unfortunately there is no adjustment on these steering gears. The only recommendation we can make to "tighten" the steering up would be to add a Safe-T-Plus Steering Control Unit: 41-230

are there any steering gear adjustments for play in steering box ?

Phil,

The proper steering gear part# for a W18 is a W0005179 and is not adjustable. I have attached a screen shot from the service manual and nowhere in that do they show any adjustments. If you are looking for tighter steering, I would recommend increasing caster to about 5.5 to 6 degrees and installing a Rear Trac Bar and a Safe-T-Plus steering control. That is how we have had the best result in correcting that complaint.
