I have a 03 Kodiak 4500 with an 8.1 L , I am wondering if you have a cold air intake that will work with this truck , and will the ECM tune will work with this truck ?

We do not offer or know of an aftermarket cold air intake for this application but our ECM tuning will absolutely work. We have tuned a lot of Kodiaks w/ the 8.1L so our gains are on par with what we gain on other applications. ( Support )

No you do not need to re-tune but to take full advantage of the extra air flow the UltraPower Custom Tuning would be beneficial. The exhaust is also not required but will help some too. ( Support )

Quick question guys, just ordered your 8.L magnum wires and AC Delco plugs, love em by the way! Will this RAM air intake system work with my 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 8.1L? Or is just for the motor homes?

This Banks Ram Air intake is only for the Workhorse RV chassis with the 8.1L. It looks like K&N makes a kit, part# 57-3030-1.

I understand this has been successfully installed on a 2001 P32 Workhorse 8.1L. The tube attaching to the throttle body must be heated and changed to fit. This voids the warranty. Is that all? Not a big deal. Remove the tuba and install this kit with modifications then? Is the filter element a K&N or something similar? Any other potential complications, such as MAFS or EGR or other engine ECM input? I still have been unable to find any DIY 8.1L cooling duct setup on IRV2. Thanks

Scott,

This kit does not eliminate the Tuba up front unfortunately. You reuse that but enlarge the mouth piece going into the air box. It also changes the lid to where the throttle body tube and mass air flow sensor go directly into the side of the air box so that it is more of a straight shot. I'm not aware of any commerically made air intakes anymore that eliminate the tuba.
