Received the new part today - thank you. I haven't yet removed the old part. Before I do, can you share a basic description of the use of the metal jacket and grease? It appears that the jacket fits on the cylinder body before inserting. Is the grease used to coat around the entire cylinder before inserting, or just the tip? Or is the tip kept grease free? Do you recommend dielectric grease on the electrical connection? Thank you in advance.( Ricky Hunkins, 03/22/2024 )
The grease will just need to be used around the sides of the sensor, inside the metal sleeve and not on the tip. The metal sleeve is just there to protect the sensor shaft from rubbing on the inside of the sensor hole. The use of dielectric grease is a good idea on any electrical connection that is exposed to the elements.
