Does your coach seems to wander down the highway or track poorly through the curves? With exactly the right components for your coach our stage 1 handling kit upgrade kit will make you think you have a new coach.  In fact, your rig will handle better than many new coaches.

If you consider your rig to be your home (or home-away-from-home) and you want to maintain and even improve it rather than replace it, think about the benefits of upgrading the driving experience for both comfort and safety.

The Freightliner XC I-Beam Stage 1 Handling Upgrade is designed to improve the safety and overall handling of your coach.

The Freightliner XC I-Beam Stage 2 Handling Package Consists of:

  • SuperSteer Upgraded Bell Crank - Replaces the factory unit which uses common sleeve bushings that often bind and wear out prematurely cannot be adjusted for side play. The SuperSteer Bell Crank utilizes tapered roller bearings which allow the steering to always turn freely without binding and can be adjusted to achieve smooth and precise movement. Improves steering and reduces steering play.
  • Safe-T-Plus Steering Control Unit & Mounting Bracket - Mounts to steering tie rod and front axle to provide a positive centering force in the steering. Reduces rut tracking, wander and aids in keeping control in the event of a tire blow out.
  • Koni FSD Shock Absorbers - Replaces the factory gas charged shocks with top of the line hydraulic shocks that will self adjust to differing road conditions to provide the best possible ride in all conditions.

When I installed my steering stabilizer and removed the shock absorber I noticed it was oil filled and thought that gas shocks are more stabilizing (from my auto days) but in reading your koni description they are listed as oil filled with dampening. So my question would be what type of shocks do you recommend for my rig and/or any other upgrades for the best ride and control. Overall it rides pretty well except it seems to wear on me when the wind kicks up and sometimes when the road crowns. Also notice that the rig rocks hard sometimes going in and out of driveways, which I just slow way down now. Please give me any recommendations to consider as we continue our trip across the USA. ( David Calderon, 10/25/2019 )
We always recommend Koni shocks for motor homes for optimum ride quality and stabilization. The next best addition, which you already did, is a steering stabilizer. After that, we recommend upgrading the steering bellcrank to a SuperSteer unit for less steering play. The Comfort Ride Control Valves will help a lot with slowing down the rocking motion you are describing as it restricts the air flow coming out of the air bag. ( Support )
