Part # 64009 - Banks Power Exhaust Gas Temperature Gauge Kit For Diesel Pushers

Description:

Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) is a very important gauge to have on any diesel engine, especially if modifications have been made to increase horsepower and torque. The Banks Power EGT Gauge Kit will accurately measure your exhaust gas temperatures up to 1500 Degrees Fahrenheit. This kit utilizes high quality components that are specific for use on motorhomes.

We recommend installing the Thermocouple Probe in the exhaust manifold pre-turbo. This location will provide the most accurate readings.

Features:

  • Monitors exhaust gas temperature (EGT)
  • Protects durability by eliminating safe-EGT-level guesswork
  • Eliminates erroneous readings with ambient temperature compensation
  • Accurate within 15 degree F at maximum operating temperatures
  • 2000 degree F-rated, chromel-alumel thermocouple wire provides superior conductivity
  • 1-Year Limited Warranty
  • Illuminated 0-1500F full-sweep face
  • Comes with probe & 55' lead wire
  • Uses 1/4" NPT threaded fitting to secure the thermocouple.

Don't you have to concern yourself with metal drill & tap filings getting into the exhaust manifold and going up to the turbo when drilling out the cast iron exhaust manifold?
( Barry Conover, 06/21/2022 )
Best scenario for installation is to have the manifold removed. You can install with the manifold installed but you do run the risk of debris going through the turbo which is unlikely to cause damage, but there is a risk. I have installed them by drilling a hole with the engine idling so it blows the metal out as you drill. Then use a good amount of anti-seize while creating the threads (vehicle not running). Hope that helps! ( Support )
Is this gauge illuminated? ( Mike Lent, 06/15/2021 )

What size tap for the fitting in the exhaust? ( Rick, 06/21/2020 )
1/4" NPT ( Support )

Does this kit come with installation instructions? Also how long does it take to install?

( Andy, 03/14/2015 )

Andy, this kit does come with instructions for installation. However ever RV is different so routing the cable to the front from the sensor will depend on how you would like to route it. This would also vary the install time as well. The overall average time to install I would say is between 4-5 hours.
